Ways to Give

Your contribution to the Grand Challenges General Fund supports initiatives such as the Grand Challenges Student Fellowship. This vertically (along educational levels) and horizontally (across interdisciplinary teams) integrated program provides a unique paid educational experience for both graduate and undergraduate students within UNM’s Grand Challenges program. Graduate and undergraduate student fellows are embedded with teams and provided with mentoring as they work on team research projects. Student fellows also meet regularly as a cohort to receive training designed to increase their understanding of interdisciplinary research and communication. In the fellowship’s pilot year (Spring/Summer 2025), one graduate fellow won the Graduate Poster Showcase following a cohort training on creating compelling research posters. Additionally, two student fellows have elected to extend their work with their teams into thesis projects. We hope to expand the program to create opportunities for more students to engage with interdisciplinary research at UNM.
