Creating Data and Computational Science Educational Pathways for Diverse Communities

Marios Pattichis, Patrick Bridges, Andrea Polli

New Mexico needs a data-literate populace, one that can effectively use next-generation data and compute tools and techniques to make insightful, informed day-to-day decisions in areas ranging from healthcare to business to education to public policy. Meeting this challenge would diversify and invigorate the state economy and policy and allow the people of New Mexico to lead nationally in leveraging the power of data science to transform the world. We envision a broad range of research on computing and data science education, data-driven science and engineering, and computational infrastructure. This will provide the people of New Mexico the education, tools, data, analyses, and visualizations they need to transform their lives for the emerging data economy.
